Our beginning
PopNSpot Original Story
My retired mom didn’t want to sit around feeling bored. Drawing on a lifetime of restaurant experience, she decided to give back by creating amazing food starting with homemade tamales for family and friends. They sold out immediately. That spark led her to a busy street corner, where word spread fast and customers came every day. Then the reality of street vending hit: authorities and regulations forced her to move.
Each time she relocated, almost no one knew where she was. She lost her regulars and had to rebuild trust from scratch only to be moved again.
Cash-only payments made it even harder; many customers couldn’t pay the way they wanted. That payment gap is part of why a better vendor toolkit mattered.
From the customer side, the frustration was just as real. People would discover her tamales at a kiosk, fall in love with the food, and then return later only to find the spot empty. They had no way to track where she had gone whether forced to a new corner by regulations or set up at a busy event where crowds gathered. Great food simply vanished, and loyal customers were left searching with no answers.
Street vendors everywhere face the same cycle. They get pushed from spot to spot by rules and enforcement, or they chase crowds by setting up at events and gatherings. Every move risks losing the people who already love their food and leaving potential new customers wondering if the kiosk is even open. That’s why PopNSpot was created.
PopNSpot was created to keep vendors and customers connected when a cart moves — whether that move is required by rules or chosen for a busier event. When a vendor updates their listing, people can see the published spot instead of returning to an empty corner. What began as a way to help one cook is meant to help other small vendors keep doing what they do best.
